Derbyshire and Leicestershire are neighbouring counties; Derbyshire also bordering, amongst others, Yorkshire and Staffordshire. Derbyshire is the beginning of the Pennine Way, a sort of mountainous spine which links Derbyshire to the Northern Counties, and is a recognised long distance walk for those who like such things. The Peak District is honeycombed with caves of the sort that feature in The Tollgate, and you can descend/cave/explore quite a few of them.

Contact Gail at JFord15@aol.com for information regarding Caving in the Peak District. Gail can speak from personal experience, having explored the caves mentioned in The Toll-Gate, and as she lives in Derby can let you know how you can do this as well.
